What is YSI?
What is YSI? good question. YSI stands for Youth Service Initiative. We’re made up of a group of young people from across the globe that wanted to make a difference in this world. For one year we are devoted to, as our motto says “Creating a Youth Culture of Service.” This means through our own efforts as well as through working with other young people, we try to serve our community.
The more practical and external definition of YSI is that it is a training program for young people to become skilled in the field of Social Work. We learn these skills through working within our local community, experiencing international service work, and creating our own personal projects. Our hope is that once we’ve completed this year we’ll be able to initiate and complete projects in our own hometowns.
This year, YSI has three teams of volunteers. Two are in Holland (Utrecht and Rotterdam) and one is Frankfurt, Germany. Each team has created a blog to share our experiences and this is the blog of the Frankfurt Team.
